Associated projects and activities

  • COMMIT (STREP - EU FP6)
COMMIT aims to improve the scientific basis for the long-term sustainable planning of fishery management, while identifying any short-term biological and socio-economic consequences.

EFIMAS and COMMIT have been main developers of FLR-R for fisheries science. FLR is a library of R packages for use in fisheries modelling, including stock assessment and the evaluation of management strategies.

  • TEMAS
A fleet-based bioeconomic simulation soft-ware for management strategies accounting for fishers behaviour.

  • CEVIS (STREP - EU FP6)
Evaluating alternative, participatory management models for EU fisheries.

  • FISBOAT (STREP - EU FP6)
Taking reliable stock of fish numbers. FISBOAT will tackle the major issue of unreliable fish stock assessment through the use of new methods based exclusively on research vessel survey data.

  • PROTECT (STREP EU FP6)
Development Marine Protected Areas and fishing clousure as a tool for fisheries management and ecosystem conservation.

  • BECAUSE (STREP - EU FP6)
BECAUSE investigates the quantitative role of species interactions as a first step towards the implementation of the ecosystem approach into fisheries management. The focus is on simple but critical interactions in the upper trophic levels of marine food webs.
